So how is everyone feeling about dropsuit armor tanking versus shield tanking now?
It may be reduction in MDs and the increase in lasers and ARs, but I feel as though armor tanking has come back and hasn't over powered shield tanking. I'm not even sure if the increased signal for shields in 1.5 is necessary now either, it might be a little too much with the added signifigance of the active scanner. Though any penalty to increasing HP would be important to prevent people from just stacking their EHP. I would likely stop stacking complex shield extenders on my Gallente logi in favor of lower levels or damage mods. I still hybrid tank but I have more armor than before. Locus grenades and MDs still tear me to shreds. My movement speed reduction is noticable but not a huge hinderance, it still makes me think twice before stacking heavier plates.
Thoughts? I'd like some honest objective opinions from shield tankers. |

Almost every module has some kind of penalty for stacking, most just have an effectiveness reduction. Adding some kind of penalty to shields would be good in principle, but hopefully not so significant to make shields unwanted all together, something on par with the armor penalties. If my Gallente Logi stacks 5 complex armor plates I will slow to a crawl so I think a Calrdari logi with 5 Complex shield extenders should light up like a christmas tree. The addition of shield modules similar to the new armor plates would definately bring a degree of balance. |

By increasing the delay shield tankers would be more inclined to either use Shield regulators in the lows to counter that penalty, thus preventing them from just using more armor modules to increase the buffer and making them, you know, shield tank instead of just all-around buffer, OR they can still stack extenders and plates but have an horrible shield recovery, which seems pretty fair and an smart design to me.
I forgot about that original idea. I'm still stuck in the EVE mindset. |
